Zurich Financial Services Group has made key senior-level appointments within its General Insurance (GI) segment.

These appointments are related to the ongoing review of the GI business, which is part of a Group-wide initiative to clarify accountability, focus on responsibility and reduce complexity.

The newly appointed executives include: Mario Vitale, CEO Global Corporate; Mike Foley, CEO North America Commercial; Patrick Manley, CEO Europe; Peter Rebrin, CEO Latin America; Johnny Chen, CEO Asia-Pacific; and Saad Mered, CEO Middle East & Africa.

These newly appointed executives will be heading the six market-facing GI businesses effective immediately, except Patrick Manley, who will assume his responsibilities effective 1 January 2011.

Zurich has said that all CEOs will report to Mario Greco, CEO General Insurance.

Vitale has been a member of the group management board of Zurich Financial Services Group and CEO Global Corporate since January 2009. He joined Zurich in October 2006. Mr Vitale continues to be based in New York, US.

Foley has been a member of the group executive committee and CEO North America Commercial of Zurich Financial Services Group since January 2008. He joined Zurich in September 2006. Foley continues to be based in Schaumburg, US.

Manley has been CEO of Zurich Ireland since January 2007. He joined Zurich in August 1997 as marketing manager of Eagle Star Insurance, a position he held until April 2000. Before he assumed his current position as CEO of Zurich Ireland he was head of Distribution for Zurich Ireland. He continues to be based in Dublin, Ireland.

Peter Rebrin has been CEO for Zurich Latin America since October 2009. Rebrin joined Zurich in 1999 and since then held various international and Latin American leadership positions. He continues to be based in Miami, Florida.

Johnny Chen has been CEO Greater China since March 2005 when he joined Zurich. Chen continues to be based in Hong Kong.

Saad Mered has been CEO Middle East since January 2009 when he joined Zurich and he continues to be based in Dubai.
