Zurich Financial Services Group has appointed Bill Robertson as the new chief life actuary, effective 1 September 2010. He succeeds Nigel Masters, who is now president of the Institute of Actuaries.

Robertson will report to both Zurich CFO Dieter Wemmer, and Global Life CFO Joachim Masur, and will be located in Zurich, Switzerland.

In his new role, Robertson will be responsible for continuing the evolution of group-wide Life Actuarial towards becoming a global function.

Robertson joins Zurich from Aegon UK where he currently serves as finance director and has spent the past 10 years in a number of roles in Aegon Group, including group chief actuary and actuarial director.

Prior to working with Aegon Group, Robertson was head of Actuarial at Scottish Equitable and at Scottish Amicable.
