XL Insurance, the global insurance operations of XL Group, has appointed David Hewett as new executive vice president and William Mills as new senior vice president to lead its Surety division.
Hewett and Mills will report to Seraina Maag, XL Insurance’s chief executive of the North America P&C Unit, in New York. Both will be based in Baltimore, Maryland.
Hewett will join XL Insurance from Zurich North America Insurance where he served as executive vice president, heading North American Domestic Surety. Prior to Zurich, he was vice president with USI Holdings and has held underwriting positions with a United States Financial and Guaranty Company.
Mills will join XL Insurance from Zurich’s Contract Surety group. He has over 20 years of surety industry experience. In addition to various senior management positions at Zurich Surety, he also held various management positions with St Paul Surety Seaboard Surety.
XL Insurance chief executive Maag said adding David and Bill’s surety expertise to the company’s property, casualty, environmental and professional underwriting capabilities puts XL Insurance in a very strong position to service contractors’ multiple risk management needs.
