XL Capital has appointed Myron Hendry to the newly created position of chief platform officer. He will join XL on December 1, 2009, and will be responsible for all operational IT support of the company’s businesses, including business process, technology and outsourcing.

Mr Hendry will report to XL’s CEO Michael McGavick and serve on XL’s leadership team. He will be based in Stamford, Connecticut.

Most recently, Mr Hendry was business operations executive of Bank of America’s Insurance Group, where he was responsible for claims, risk management, business support, technology portfolio management, customer analytics, customer experience, retention and facilities.

McGavick said: Myron brings extensive experience in technology, underwriting and customer service, all operational aspects that drive an insurer’s performance. During his more than 35 years in the industry, Myron has successfully developed and managed insurance platforms with a focus on continually improving customer satisfaction, quality and productivity.

“It’s these experiences, and especially his achievements in operations management, that make him uniquely qualified to take on this new position. It is a pleasure to have Myron on board as XL pushes forward to distinguish itself as a (re)insurer of choice.
