XL Group has revealed plans to set up a new office in Manchester, US, intended to leverage business with middle market clients and brokers.
The company has also appointed Mick Turvey as regional underwriting manager, UK middle markets, to lead the new office.
XL Group UK & Ireland middle markets chief underwriting officer Denis Burniston said, "Opening an office in Manchester will contribute to the regional presence we have established through our Birmingham office and further demonstrates our commitment to regional brokers and business in the UK."
With 24 years of experience in the insurance industry, Turvey served recently at Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance as regional underwriting manager.
The firm is also planning to hire two additional underwriters for the new establishment.
