XL Insurance, the global insurance operations of XL Group, has appointed Cristiana Baez-Safa as new chief underwriting officer professional lines for its Commercial Risk business outside of North America.
Based in Paris, she will report to William Wharton, chief underwriting officer, Professional Lines International.
Baez-Safa has over 25 years of experience in financial lines insurance, having held various regional and global financial lines management positions at AIG, Marsh and, most recently, Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty.
Previous to this, she practiced law with various law firms in the US, France and the United Arab Emirates, working on management and professional liability, insurance and claims matters.
Wharton said Cris is an experienced professional lines underwriter. Under her leadership XL Insurance will further strengthen the capabilities in the growing and dynamic Commercial Risk market.
