XL Insurance has appointed Joseph Tocco as new executive vice president and head of North America Property and XL Global Asset Protection Services (XL GAPS), effective 1 February 2011.
In his new role, Tocco will direct XL’s property underwriting activities, including general property and energy property business, and XL GAPS, a loss prevention consulting firm.
Tocco will report to Seraina Maag, chief executive of XL Insurance’s North America Property & Casualty (P&C) unit in New York.
Tocco will join XL Insurance from Zurich Financial Services where he most recently led the North American property group, global corporate business unit, and previously served as Northeast regional property manager and national director of engineering lines.
He also held underwriting and risk engineering positions with Munich Re, Industrial Risk Insurers (IRI) and Hartford Steam Boiler.
XL Insurance North America chief executive Seraina Maag said that Tocco brings a strong combination of underwriting and hands-on risk engineering experience and understands the value of delivering both loss prevention services and underwriting expertise hand-in-hand to provide clients with more effective property protection.
