XL Group North America Property Insurance unit has appointed Brian Strain and Cheryl Geidel to its underwriting team, to help businesses cope with unexpected costs and business interruption resulting from the breakdown of equipment in North America.

According to the insurer, Strain has been appointed as senior vice president and head of equipment breakdown business and will be based in XL’s Chicago office.

Similarly, Geidel has been appointed as vice president of equipment breakdown and will be based in North Carolina.

Strain and Geidel will report to Joseph Tocco, head of XL’s North America Property unit and will work to develop XL’s Equipment Breakdown Coverage products.

With 25-year insurance career, Strain comes to XL from Zurich North America where he served as vice president and regional manager of Boiler & Machinery.

Bringing more than 20 years of insurance industry experience Geidel’s most recently served as vice president and technical underwriting for Boiler & Machinery.

Equipment Breakdown insurance provides protection against financial losses that result from the breakdown of equipment which may include business interruption and equipment repair or replacement costs.
