XL Group subsidiary, North America Construction unit is establishing a west coast underwriting operation in San Francisco, California, US to better serve its brokers and contractors.
XL North America Construction business president Gary Kaplan said that the new west coast presence will include two underwriters Michael Simone, currently executive underwriter of construction primary casualty, and Markus Bachmann, vice president of builder’s risk.
Mike, who has been promoted to regional vice president to manage Western Region’s Construction Operations, and Markus will relocate from New York to XL’s San Francisco office to work closely with local brokers and clients.
Prior to joining XL Group last year, Simone served as product manager on all loss sensitive accounts in Old Republic Construction Program Group and also served Reliance National and Crum & Forster Insurance.
Bachmann joined XL’s Energy in June 2010 and prior to that he served Gerling Insurance, ABB Insurance Brokers, Union Reinsurance and Winterthur Insurance in Switzerland.
