XL Group's North America Property & Casualty insurance unit has appointed Lorraine Seib as president of its excess casualty team, to expand its excess casualty business globally.

In his new role, Seib will manage XL’s global Excess Casualty business with underwriting operations in New York, Bermuda, Dublin, London and Toronto as well as US field operations in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Based in New York, she will report to Seraina Maag, chief executive of XL’s North America Property & Casualty insurance group.

Seib comes to XL from Travelers where she served as president of Excess Casualty since 2005, managing the company’s Excess Casualty business, including its Lead Umbrella business, with underwriting capabilities in 22 offices.

Most recently, she served as St. Paul/Travelers’ chief underwriting officer for Excess Casualty, stepping into this position following St. Paul’s acquisition of Kemper’s Excess Casualty business unit, where she also served as chief underwriting officer.
