WR Berkley, an insurance holding firm, has appointed William Haines as president and CEO of Carolina Casualty Insurance Company. Mr Haines succeeds William Murray, who will now lead Regional Excess Underwriters as president.

Mr Haines comes to Carolina Casualty with more than 30 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry. For the past six years, he has served as a regional vice president of Admiral Insurance Company, another WR Berkley member company.

Mr Murray joined WR Berkley in 2003 and has served as president and CEO of Carolina Casualty since 2005. Previously, he was president of the excess division of Admiral Insurance Company and he has more than 22 years of insurance industry experience.
