Willis Group Holdings has reported total revenues of $972m for the first quarter of 2010, an increase of 4.5% compared to $930m for the same quarter in 2009.

Willis Group’s operating income for the first quarter were $301m which is an increase of 9.8% compared to $274m for the same period last year.

The company posted total commissions and fees of $963m, an increase of 5% compared to $915m. Investment income was $9m in the first quarter of 2010 compared to $13m for the same quarter in 2009.

For the quarter ended March 31, 2010, the company posted a net income of $204m, or $1.2 per share, compared to $192m, or $1.15 per share, for the same period last year.

Joe Plumeri, chairman and CEO of Willis Group Holdings, said: “We delivered another solid quarter of financial results, supported by positive organic growth in each segment of our business. Combined with our continued focus on cost control, we expanded our adjusted operating margin by over 200 basis points.”
