Westfield Insurance has expanded its business by starting commercial operations in the state of Maryland, with commercial accounts to be serviced out of Lancaster, Pennsylvania service office.

Westfield said that its existing surety accounts in Maryland will continue to be serviced out of Richmond, Virginia, service office.

The company recently appointed 13 independent agencies to facilitate the expansion and the agents representing it are selected as a partner with the company and its policyholders.

Rich Gajda, commercial lines leader of Westfield, said: “We decided to expand operations to Maryland because of the significant opportunity to diversify and grow in businesses, markets and products.

“Adding Maryland to Westfield’s operations brings further variety to our book of business, spreading risk across a larger geographical footprint.”
