WellPoint, a health benefits company, has appointed John Langenus as senior vice president and CEO of its Anthem National Accounts division, effective from February 25, 2008.
In his new role, Mr Langenus will be responsible for customer relationships and continued growth of Anthem National Accounts, which currently serves more than 10.9 million members.
Mr Langenus joins Anthem National Accounts from Coventry Healthcare, where he served as president of group healthcare for more than two years. He received his MBA from the University of Hartford, and prior to that, was a captain in the US Marine.
Ken Goulet, president and CEO of Commercial Business unit at WellPoint, said: John’s experience working with large accounts, along with his excellent reputation in the market, his focus on the customer and his passion for health care will enhance our already strong national accounts team.
