Company reported a 2.9% increase in premiums written, amounting to E162.85 million in the health insurance segment

In the first six months of 2009, Vienna Insurance Group has reported a total premiums written (consolidated) of E4.25 billion. This corresponds to an increase of 0.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. The net earned premiums rose by 4.1%.

The group profit (before taxes, consolidated) amounted to E230.25 million in the first six months of 2009.

The combined ratio of the group after reinsurance (excluding income from investments) stood at 95.5% during the first six months of the current year. The loss ratio increased by about E20 million net or 1.6% points, while the group’s expense ratio dropped by 2.1% points.

In the property/casualty segment, total premiums written of E2.35 billion were registered.

In the life insurance segment, the group companies have reported a total of premiums written of E1.74 billion. Vienna Insurance achieved a 2.9% increase in premiums written, amounting to E162.85 million in the health insurance segment.
