Decision Research Corporation (DRC), a software solution provider to property and casualty insurance industry, said that Unitrin Direct has migrated its policy administration system from a mainframe system to a Microsoft Windows platform.

The company said that the Unitrin Direct utilized its professional services to complete mainframe migration within eight months of launching the project. Unitrin Direct has now consolidated all versions of the DRC application to a windows environment.

John Elcock, vice president and CIO of Unitrin Direct, said: “Using DRC’s technical resources in addition to our internal staff, we were able to migrate an acquired book of business off a mainframe within 1 year of acquiring the system. Partnering with them on the migration enabled us to start this project sooner than originally anticipated.”
