UnitedHealthcare has combined the third-party administration capabilities of its Fiserv Health, Midwest Security and United Medical Resources businesses to form a single national business unit, UMR, which will provide integrated health benefit management for self-funded, dental, vision, disability and medical plans.

UMR aims to deliver services such as national health care provider network discounts, advanced claims-control functions, integrated chronic condition management and health and wellness programs, and flexible benefit solutions that include up to 4,000 customized plan designs.

UMR will also provide additional programs such as integrated care management, pharmacy benefits, stop-loss services, ancillary products and customized reporting services. The new UMR name and logo will be introduced to customers over the course of 2008. It will be led by Jay Anliker, formerly president of Fiserv health.

Ken Burdick, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, said: As a distinct business unit, UMR will have greater ability to deliver local and regional service to our customers while leveraging UnitedHealthcare’s national strengths, including our network of more than 560,000 physicians and 4,800 hospitals throughout the country.
