United Life Insurance, a subsidiary of United Fire & Casualty, has promoted Michael Sheeley to vice president and chief operating officer.

In this role, Sheeley will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the life insurance segment, providing leadership and direction to a 50-member staff and an agency force more than 2,700 agents.

Sheeley has been a member of the United Fire, since 1985. He served in various capacities in the company, most recently as assistant vice president and personal lines underwriting manager.

He has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry and holds a business management degree from the University of Northern Iowa.

United Life Insurance president and CEO Randy Ramlo said with over 22 years of management experience for United Fire Group, Mike understands the corporate culture and has already established relationships with a portion of the agency force.
