Universal Risk Intermediaries (UniRisk), a Bermuda based insurance and financial firm that designs, organises, and implements alternative risk transfer solutions, has appointed Guy Sansom as its managing director for Europe.

Utilising tax benefits available under the 2011 Canadian/Bermuda tax treaty, Sansom will also develop new business opportunities in North America, particularly captive ownership for Canadian companies, to be managed by the company’s Bermuda operations.

Sansom brings more than 30 years of experience to his new role as managing director, as a London-based executive in the North American insurance market, specialising in property and casualty business.

Sansom experience includes oversight and development of new construction business in North America for JLT, the construction insurance partners of choice for Europe’s largest contractors and project owners, and financiers around the world.

Prior to that, he handled all casualty lines as a broker with Price Forbes and Partners, served as director of casualty and property insurance at Heath Lambert, and was Chandler Hargreaves’ director in charge of North American casualty, property and facilities business.

Sansom, who will be based in London, will represent UniRisk in the European insurance and reinsurance market on behalf of its customers.
