UK-based Thomas Miller Investment (TMI) has appointed Mike Balfour as its new chief executive officer.

In 2009 Balfour was appointed chief investment officer of TMI. He spent 16 years with Edinburgh Fund Managers, including six years as chief investment officer and managing director. Thereafter, Balfour was the CEO of Glasgow Investment Managers.

With in excess of $4bn client funds under management, Thomas Miller Investment provides boards, investment committees and trustees with a focused range of investment management services. These include investment management for institutional and private clients, risk management, cash management and treasury advice.

TMI Holdings chairman Simon Ellen said Mike brings substantial experience and industry knowledge to this key role and his appointment underlines the firm’s commitment to grow the investment business.

TMI is part of the Thomas Miller group which began 125 years ago by providing insurance services to shipping. Since then it has expanded into other sectors including professional indemnity.
