The Co-operators General Insurance, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, has acquired Canada-based Bando & Brown General Insurance, strengthening its presence in Ontario and across the country.

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Based in London of Ontario, Bando & Brown provides personal and commercial insurance products to its customers.

The Co-operators will provide comparable policies to Bando & Brown clients, when the current policies expire.

In addition, the clients can access Co-operators’ full suite of insurance products such as home, auto, life, travel, commercial and farm insurance.

The Co-operators president and CEO Kathy Bardswick said: "We’re pleased to be strengthening our presence and growing our agency distribution system in Ontario and across the country, which is part of our growth strategy.

"Our new clients will benefit from the wide range of insurance and financial products, as well as the expertise, offered by Co-operators advisors."

In October this year, Co-operators acquired another Ontario-based Browning Insurance, which provides personal and commercial insurance policies for its clients.
