US-based mobile-network operator, T-Mobile USA and Assurant Solutions have launched a new mobile device protection program for T-Mobile Monthly4G customers across the US.

The newly introduced program, dubbed Monthly4G Handset Protection (MHP), offers coverage for accidental damage, water damage, loss, theft, and mechanical or electrical malfunction, following the expiry of the manufacturer’s warranty.

T-Mobile USA prepaid head and marketing vice president Mike Katz said the company is confident that the program will add significant value to the T-Mobile customer experience.

"There has been increased consumer demand for no-annual contract wireless plans and our Monthly4G plans are being adopted in record numbers — with our prepaid business doubling over the past year," Katz added.

According to the company, the T-Mobile customers can enroll in the program for $7 per month, following purchase of a new T-Mobile phone with an accompanying Monthly4G rate plan.

T-Mobile USA have also recently launched a new mobile broadband data plans for business clients, to help meet the increasing use of mobile broadband devices, including tablets, laptop sticks and mobile hotspots.
