Symetra Life Insurance has appointed two new external wholesalers and a new internal wholesaling manager as part of the firms’ ongoing strategy to expand its life distribution network and wholesaling force in select territories across the country.

The two new regional vice presidents, Reynaldo Castro and James Weaver will represent the firm’s life insurance product portfolio with brokerage general agencies (BGAs) in Northwest/Rockies and Southeast territory.

Castro served as a regional vice president and external wholesaler since 2008 in Sun Life Financial, where he worked with BGAs, independent producers, broker-dealer reps and institutional advisors across a five-state territory.

He also served Merrill Lynch, Paine Webber and MetLife as wealth management, financial planning and insurance sales positions.

Weaver served Sun Life, as a regional vice president and wholesaler, representing life insurance products in a seven-state area prior to the joining to the Symetra Life Insurance and also covered wire houses, banks, general agents and financial planners.

Earlier to that, Weaver served Merrill Lynch as a wealth management consultant, Prudential as a sales manager and John Hancock as a wholesaler.
