The Swiss Life Group, a Zurich-based provider of life insurance and pension solutions, has appointed Matthias Aellig as its new chief risk officer, with effect from the second quarter of 2010.

In his new role, Mr Aellig will be responsible for risk management, compliance and actuarial services at the Swiss Life Group. He will report to the group CFO.

Mr Aellig has worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company, as chief actuary life of Winterthur Group and most recently as chief actuary of Zurich Life Switzerland.

Thomas Buess, chief financial officer of the Swiss Life Group, said: “We are delighted to announce that Matthias Aellig is joining Swiss Life. As a recognised expert, his specialist knowledge and wealth of experience in all areas of risk management will be a real asset to our group.”
