Sutherland Asbill & Brennan has added six of the nation’s leading insurance regulatory, tax and transactional attorneys in a bid to further expand its insurance and tax practices.

Dewey & LeBoeuf’s previous partners James Dwyer, Jeffrey Mace, John Pruitt, Linda Sciuto, Cynthia Shoss and Bruce Wright have joined the company’s New York office.

Sutherland managing partner Mark Wasserman said the group’s combined broad experience in the insurance industry is a natural complement to the company’s insurance and tax teams and strengthens its industry leading practice.

The group also significantly expands the firm’s New York presence in addition to enhancing Sutherland’s highly regarded insurance and tax practices.

The group brings full spectrum of skills and experience for serving the insurance sector worldwide in the areas of property and casualty and life insurance regulation and transactions, insurance M&A and finance, reinsurance, insurance captives and alternative risk transfer mechanisms and international insurance taxation.

Mace led Dewey & LeBoeuf’s Lloyd’s of London and Lloyd’s Market practice prior to joining Sutherland, while Pruitt and Shoss co-chaired the company’s insurance regulatory department.

Wright was the head of LeBoeuf Lamb’s tax practice for several years, and Dwyer served as managing partner of the Dewey’s Chicago office.

Sciuto focuses on the taxation of Lloyd’s members and has extensive knowledge of the Lloyd’s of London market.
