The US division of Sun Life Financial has announced the appointment of Michael Shunney as the new president of Sun Life Financial Distributors.
Mr Shunney will oversee annuity wholesaler productivity and lead development of Sun Life’s distribution operations. In addition to his duties as Sun Life Financial Distributors (SLFD) president, Mr Shunney will continue to serve as senior vice president and general manager of SLFD group, reporting to Bob Salipante, president of Sun Life Financial US.
In February 2008, Mr Shunney was chosen to lead the company’s distribution group, a newly formed sales organization comprised of the company’s employee benefits group distribution organization and SLFD. Prior to this role, Mr Shunney headed Sun Life’s employee benefits group as the senior vice president and general manager of group insurance.
