Stewart National Title Services has appointed Barry Smith as vice president and associate senior underwriter for its Houston, Texas office.
Previously, Smith has held national commercial underwriting positions with both First American Title Insurance Company and Fidelity National Title Insurance Company, where he served as lead counsel on a several multi-site, multi-state portfolio transactions.
Prior to that, Smith was a senior attorney in the real estate department of a law firm, having represented lenders, borrowers, purchasers and sellers.
Stewart National Title Services executive vice president and director Paul Sands said that Barry is a great addition to the company’s team of national underwriters.
“With his keen understanding of the special dynamics of commercial transactions and impeccable attention to customer service, he will be a strong contributor to Stewart’s continued presence in the commercial arena,” Sands said.
