Sompo Japan Insurance Company of America has deployed Insurance Systems's (ISI) WebWriter solution as its new platform for marine cargo certificates, underwriting automation and rating.

According to ISI, the WebWriter platform is a fully-integrated browser-based solution to run all aspects of a property/casualty insurance operation, including additional modules to support the specific needs of marine insurers.

Sompo had previously selected ISI’s WebWriter solution in August 2009 and the implementation which was branded internally as ‘Sompo C-Port’, was completed in less than six months from initiation to deployment.

Phyllis Drivas, ccean marine underwriting manager at Sompo, said: ISI’s WebWriter solution allows us to offer the level of service on our marine book of business that Sompo is known for. Working with ISI throughout the project, it became apparent that they not only have sound technical knowhow, but also an insight into how we can improve our business through the effective use of the technology.

David Hanley, vice president of business development and operations at ISI, said: “We are very excited about this partnership with Sompo. Sompo is an extremely customer-driven company and we believe the ISI solution will allow them to provide even stronger service in this niche offering.”
