Selective Insurance Group has announced that its subsidiary Selective Insurance Company of America has appointed Stephen Bartholomew as assistant vice president and claims manager for Selective's Heartland region, and Susan Brown as assistant vice president and claims service center manager.

Mr Bartholomew joined Selective in 1999 as a claims management specialist (CMS) and most recently has served as CMS supervisor for the region. Ms Brown joined Selective in 2006 as a corporate claims supervisor and most recently served as claims manager for the claims apprentice program and total loss unit.

The company also appointed James Burns as an assistant vice president, senior coverage counsel, Deborah Gangemi as an assistant vice president, flood service center, Donald Nichols as an assistant vice president, senior litigation counsel and Debra Paziora as an assistant vice president, bond underwriting manager.

Mr Burns joined Selective in March 2008. Previously, he was engaged in private practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, with an emphasis on insurance coverage, environmental and general commercial litigation.

Ms Gangemi joined Selective in 1999 as a litigation examiner before becoming flood manager in 2001. Mr Nichols joined Selective in January 2008. Previously, he was a senior trial attorney for Travelers Insurance Company.

Ms Paziora joined Selective in 2005 as a senior underwriter before becoming northeast regional bond manager in 2006. Previously, she served as bond underwriting manager for Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company.
