Selective Insurance Group has elected independent director Annabelle Bexiga to its Board of directors at its annual meeting of shareholders held on 25 April 2012.

Lead Independent Director David Brown said Bexiga has remarkable financial services industry experience in leadership positions in technology, operations and business management.

"The high tech, high touch philosophy is critical to Selective’s success and Annabelle’s extensive IT experience will prove invaluable as we develop and execute our internal and external technology strategies," Brown added.

Bexiga is responsible for technology strategy, architecture, initiatives and solutions as chief information officer at TIAA-CREF, a financial services organisation and provider of retirement services in the academic, research, medical and cultural fields.

Prior to working with TIAA-CREF, Bexiga also served as chief information officer at Bain Capital, and managing director and chief information officer at JPMorgan Invest.

She also held leadership roles at Lehman Brothers and Deutsche Bank.
