Scottsdale Insurance Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nationwide, has entered into a strategic alliance with the National Equipment Register (NER) to help prevent equipment theft and recover stolen equipment.

Under this agreement, Scottsdale Insurance’s insureds will benefit from the strategic alliance by receiving preferred pricing when they register their equipment on NER’s HELPtech database.

In addition to offering preferred pricing, Scottsdale Insurance will waive its theft deductibles up to $10,000 per occurrence, if an insured’s equipment is registered prior to a theft and not recovered within 30 days of being reported.

HELPtech database allows equipment owners to register their heavy equipment on a national database available for police officers across the country to search 24 hours a day.

NER operations manager Ryan Shepherd said equipment theft is a huge problem that greatly affects both the construction and insurance industries.

"By entering into this alliance, Scottsdale Insurance is providing its clients the option of a cost-effective theft deterrent, equipment inventory management and recovery solution. Scottsdale Insurance’s incentive program only increases the appeal of this value-added service," Shepherd said.
