To transform claims processing capabilities

Santam, a short-term insurer in South Africa, has opted for TIBCO’s software to improve customer experience and manage insurance policies and programs effectively.

Leveraging TIBCO iProcess Suite, TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks and TIBCO BusinessEvents, Santam will create a new claims processing platform over the next 18 months that will form a core part of its Insurance Services Transformation Programme (ISTP).

The programme will involve an IT project which is crucial to the upgrade of its customer claims process to improve the customer claims experience and increase the efficiency of all related processes, while scaling the claims processing capacity by a factor of two by the end of 2011.

Jan de Klerk, chief information officer, Santam, said: In a competitive insurance environment we needed a solution which would help drive efficiencies of process, increase our business agility and help to reduce costs. With this next generation implementation, Santam expects to realise productivity benefits of between 30 and 60 percent in selective areas.
