India-based Reliance General Insurance is planning to launch a new health insurance policy called ‘Reliance Healthgain’ in August 2013 to support healthcare needs of women.

The company will offer a 5% discount on the entire premium for a widow covering self or children, or an individual covering self, who is unmarried, widowed or divorced.

The plan, under a floater, also offers a 5% discount on the entire premium for a girl child.

Reliance General Insurance CEO Rakesh Jain was quoted by the Hindu as saying, "This is an honest attempt to test the market… The idea is to move from a product-centric approach to customer-centric one."

Reliance General Insurance, part of Reliance Capital, intends to cover about four lakh people within the first year of the product launch.
