Boston-based diversified insurer Liberty Mutual Group and Irish Bank have renamed Quinn-Direct Insurance as Liberty Insurance.

According to a report by Irish Independent, the rebranding follows the acquisition of Quinn’s Irish insurance business by Liberty Mutual and the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation formerly known as Anglo Irish Bank in November 2011.

Liberty Insurance will continue trade from existing offices in Cavan, Dublin and Enniskillen, with Cavan as the headquarters. Quinn Insurance went into administration in March 2010.

Although the new venture is jointly owned by Anglo and Liberty, its management will be spearheaded by Liberty and has installed its executive Pat O’Brien to lead the operations.

Liberty Mutual was established in 1912 and is the third-largest property and casualty insurer in the US.
