Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) signed a memorandum of understanding with Fondo di Assistenza Sanitaria Integrativa (FASI), in accordance with that FASI will use QSTP’s RASAD platform.

QSTP science and technology adviser and chairman Tidu Maini said that using RASAD is expected to be highly beneficial to both the population and health authorities since it represents a significant step towards personalized medicine.

"As the prevalence of chronic metabolic diseases is on the rise, this co-operation is especially important as it helps prevent these lifestyle related health concerns. As the number one insurance company in Italy and one of the largest in Europe, FASI has an extensive infrastructure. Combining this with RASAD’s technological offerings will surely yield promising results," Maini said.

The Italian insurance firm will utilize the technological advancement of QSTP’s RASAD platform to shift focus to preventive healthcare, said the firm.

Due to an increase in the age of the world’s population and a rise in metabolic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and obesity, many healthcare providers and insurance companies in the US and in Europe have shifted their focus to prevention.

Preventive healthcare assists in early detection of the above mentioned diseases and further helps in reducing costs of treatment and rehabilitation, as reported by Gulf Times.

QSTP and ASPETAR developed RASAD provides real-time customized graphical interfaces and profiles by collecting and transmitting data over networks to cloud-based servers with the help of wireless sensors.

As a complement to the annual health screening of the executives in its system, FASI will use RASAD to engage different physiological sensors to evaluate health status in individuals that display symptoms of metabolic disease.
