QBE Americas, a division of Australian insurance firm QBE Insurance Group, has appointed Robert Byler as the new president and head of program business.

In his new role, Mr Byler will be responsible for the program business strategy, and will create and implement strategic initiatives and maintain relationships with the insurance and reinsurance communities.

Previously, Mr Byler has led several start-up and transitional programs. He also served as the president and chief executive officer of Amtrust Underwriters in Connecticut. Prior to that, he headed Alea Alternative Risk, a start-up insurance and reinsurance operation.

Mr Byler holds a Bachelor of Science degree in commerce and administration from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Headquartered in Sydney, Australia, QBE Insurance Group’s subsidiary QBE The Americas division conducts business through various property and casualty insurance subsidiaries in eight countries. It underwrites a diverse mix of property, casualty and health business on a reinsurance, direct and excess and surplus basis.
