Australian insurer QBE is planning to launch a new division by merging its Casualty International and Professional & Financial lines teams.

The new division will be led by David Harries, earlier head of professional and financial lines at QBE.

The new division will also be supported by internal appointees that include David Fitzpatrick as QBE’s regional head of casualty international, Australia, Canada, South Africa, medical malpractice and pharmaceutical.

Alastair Herbert will be the regional head of casualty international, Europe, Middle East, Latin America, Caribbean and Africa.

Jill Stewart will be the head of business development casualty, international and professional and financial lines, and Grant Clemence has been appointed as head of professional and financial lines.

Chris Bell will continue in his role as a portfolio manager and will report to David.

QBE director of casualty international and professional and financial lines David Harries said the company’s new structure makes it easier for its clients to access its liability and professional indemnity products either on a stand-alone basis or as a package.

"Given that these two areas have multiple territories and sectors in common, it was a natural development to bring them together. Most importantly we can now offer all our clients a much enhanced service based on our combined expertise and capabilities," Harries said.
