Australia-based QBE FIRST, a business of QBE North America, has appointed Christopher Davies as its new chief executive officer.

QBE North America president and chief executive officer John Rumpler said Davies is a respected leader in the financial services industry with more than 24 years of mortgage experience covering all aspects of the business.

"He brings a strong track record of leadership in building, integrating and managing successful mortgage businesses," Rumpler added.

Prior to joining QBE, Davies served as president of Capital One home loans division, where he was responsible for creating a mortgage and home equity business and increasing Capital One’s presence in the industry.

Further responsibilities also included managing a major servicing and asset portfolio, integrating the mortgage business of the acquired Chevy Chase Bank and playing an important role in ING Direct acquisition.

Davies worked chief executive officer and vice-chairman at LendingTree and also served as president and chief executive officer of Wachovia Mortgage in 2003.

QBE FIRST specialises in providing mortgage- and auto-lender placed protection insurance, voluntary insurance products, loss-mitigation services and customized property tax solutions.
