ProAssurance Corporation, a Alabama-based property and casualty company, has named Wilfred Yeargan as lead director effective immediately.
In his role, Yeargan, who is a non-employee, independent director, will coordinate the activities of the other non-employee, independent directors which includes leading executive sessions of the independent directors.
Yeargan will also serve as a liaison between non-employee, independent directors and the chairman and will consult with the chairman regarding other issues involving the board that may arise.
ProAssurance chairman and CEO Stancil Starnes said that Yeargan has distinguished himself as member of their board since 2002, and a member of various physician advisory committees since 1979. His knowledge of ProAssurance and the people and institutions they serve makes him the ideal person to fill the role of Lead Director.
ProAssurance owns eight operating insurance companies, which are primarily focused on providing professional liability insurance and operate as a single business segment within the US.
