Principal Financial Group has named Naim Munir to the newly created position of vice president and chief medical officer of the company.
Mr Munir will have direct oversight of all areas of medical management with a focus on prevention, quality and cost-effective care delivery.
Mr Munir most recently served as executive medical director for quality and care management at Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey. He holds a medical degree from Rush Medical College.
Dave Shafer, senior vice president of the health division of the Principal Financial Group, said: Munir brings not only extensive healthcare industry experience, but also a number of years working in family medicine, both of which are critical to this new role.
