Aviva-owned UK insurer Norwich Union has launched a protection service promise, effective as of February 19, 2007, to demonstrate its commitment to service levels for all new business protection applications.

The new service offers a new pre-sales helpdesk that provides underwriting help and advice, and free cover for a maximum of three months from receipt of a fully completed application for term assurance and mortgage life insurance.

The service also comes with a guarantee that all decisions will be made within two days of receipt of an accurate and complete application, unless underwriting is required.

If a decision can not be made immediately, the firm will contact an adviser within 48 hours to inform them of any missing information and if underwriting is needed. Evidence will be requested within four days. If cover can not be offered, an adviser will be contacted to explain why.

Louise Colley, head of protection marketing at Norwich Union, said: We are continually working to provide competitive offerings for customers in terms of pricing, product range and service, and the new protection service promise is evidence of this.
