NIG has won the AXA Insurance’ tender to underwrite the insurance for the Saif Insure scheme of London based Lark Group.
NIG area underwriting manager Louise Field said that there has been a real team effort to win this tender.
"Lark made it clear that they wanted a fresh approach, and stressed it was keen to develop a closer relationship with its insurer partner," Field added.
Saif Insure commercial insurance director Brian Hart said "In addition to NIG having a strong knowledge of the sector, the response to tender contained innovation, enthusiasm and a desire to work with Lark and Saif in developing the scheme to take it to the next level."
NIG said that the scheme will provide insurance for UK funeral directors, developed in close collaboration with The National Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors.
The company will begin underwriting the business from 1 May this year.
SAIFInsure scheme currently foresees the insurance arrangements for about 450 funeral directors with expectations to double that number by 2014.
