Healthy Kids would create a buy-in insurance program for adults aged 19, through 25 funded entirely by the premiums

John Lynch, Governor of New Hampshire, has passed a law which grants uninsured young adults to procure insurance through the state’s Healthy Kids insurance program – reported in The Daily News.

One of the bill’s sponsors was Maggie Wood Hassan, Seabrook’s state Senator.

Healthy Kids would create a buy-in insurance program for adults aged 19 through 25 funded entirely by the premiums. Those with incomes below $43,000 a year and no access to insurance through their parents, are eligible.

Supporters of the law stated that young adults are least expensive Americans to insure. Some of the young adults have experienced deep medical or financial crunch as they were uninsured.

Healthy Kids insurance program offers access to affordable and free health coverage for uninsured children and teens in New Hampshire. Healthy Kids currently has a buy-in program for families with children up to age 18.
