New York-based specialty insurer, The Navigators Group’s underwriting agency subsidiary, Navigators Management Company has formed a new professional liability reinsurance unit in a bid to expand its Navigators Re division.
According to the company, the new unit represents Navigators Re’s fourth business unit, in addition to agriculture, accident and health and Latin American property and casualty.
The new unit will be led by former Munich Re executive William Redington who will manage underwriting both medical and non-medical professional liability reinsurance through reinsurance broker partners.
Redington served as the head of professional liability at Munich Re America from 2004 to 2011, and chief underwriting officer of Munich Re America’s specialty markets from 1999 to 2004.
Prior to that, he also worked at various underwriting management positions with several companies in the reinsurance and specialty insurance sectors.
The Navigators Group provides specialty insurance products and solutions which includes property and casualty insurance solutions with main focus upon Marine & Energy, Specialty, Professional liability and Inland marine etc.
