MMIC Group, a Minnesota-based provider of medical professional liability insurance services, has expanded its insurance services to the growing population of long term care providers, by focusing on the healthcare community’s needs.

MMIC has said that eligible facility types include skilled care, assisted living and continuing care retirement communities and these facilities should be operated within its underwriting territory to be eligible for coverage.

According to the MMIC, the services will begin immediately in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Bill McDonough, president and CEO of MMIC, said: “We are thrilled to be offering services to this area of the healthcare industry and continuing to expand our mission of protecting and promoting the practice of good medicine. We’re always looking for opportunities to serve the healthcare community and hope to expand our partnerships by not limiting ourselves to one particular healthcare segment.”

Julie Stafford, vice president sales, marketing and communications at MMIC, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for both MMIC and the long term care providers we are now able to serve. Providers in every realm of the healthcare industry need reliable and competitive insurance readily available so they can focus on patient care.”
