The law requires insurers to submit remittance advice or payment notices, online by December

The Minnesota Council of Health Plans has introduced a web-based portal to facilitate health care providers meet the terms, with a 2007 state law requiring them to file all insurance claims electronically by July 15 – reported iHealthBeat.

The law requires insurers to submit remittance advice or payment notices, online by December 15. Physicians can use the same portal to view the advice and notices.

MCHP and its eight member insurers developed the MN E-Connect portal to standardise and automate health insurance claims. Other small insurance companies are expected to join in the program.

About 15% of Minnesota health care providers have not yet adopted electronic claims submissions systems, and are expected to benefit from the program.
