Mutual life assurance society MGM Assurance has appointed William Proby as its new chairman. Mr Proby has been a non-executive director of MGM Assurance since July 2006.

Mr Proby began his career as a chartered accountant with Pricewaterhouse moving on to Morgan Grenfell where he specialized in corporate tax planning. He served as CEO of MWP, an associated company of Morgan Grenfell, during the early 1980s. He is currently chairman of Keygate Property Investments.
