MetLife named William Mullaney as president of the US business organisation

MetLife, a provider of insurance, employee benefits and financial services, has combined its Institutional and Individual Businesses (including Auto & Home unit), into a single US Business organisation.

According to the company, combining the segments is likely to improve MetLife’s product design and distribution capabilities, streamline its decision making processes, and drive profitable growth.

In conjunction, MetLife named William Mullaney as president of the US Business Organisation, effective from August, 2009. He was previously president of MetLife’s Institutional Business since January 2007. In his previous roles at MetLife, Mullaney served as president of MetLife Auto & Home, SVP for claims and customer service at Auto & Home.

Robert Henrikson, chairman, president and CEO of MetLife, said: “With this realignment, we are recognising that we can better serve both employee benefit plan sponsors and individual customers through a single, integrated organisation, while preserving our unique franchises.”

The integration of the business segments is expected to proceed through the second half of 2009, and be completed in 2010.
