MetLife, a provider of insurance, annuities and employee benefit programs, has appointed John McCallion as vice president and head of investor relations.

In this role, he will manage and coordinate the presentation of MetLife‘s financial results and business strategies to the analyst and investor community, reporting to William Wheeler, executive vice president and CFO.

McCallion suceeds Conor Murphy, who has been promoted to senior vice president and head of finance for the European regions within MetLife’s International business.

Murphy will report to James Hom, senior vice president and CFO of MetLife’s International business.

Both appointments are effective immediately.

Previously, McCallion was vice president and head of finance for MetLife’s Investments organization, and was responsible for managing financial analysis and reporting, as well as the income and expense plan and projection process within Investments.

He joined MetLife in July 2006 after spending 10 years in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ insurance audit practice, where he worked with multinational and US clients in the life and property/casualty insurance industries.

Murphy joined MetLife in October 2000 and has held several positions of increasing responsibility within the company.

Before becoming the head of investor relations beginning in December 2007, he was vice president and head of finance for MetLife’s Investments organization.

Previously, he also served in MetLife’s internal audit department, where he was responsible for various groups, including Investments and Investment affiliate auditing operations.
