Sino-US United MetLife Insurance Company (MetLife), a joint venture launched by a subsidiary of MetLife and Shanghai Alliance Investment (SAIL), has inked an insurance business cooperation agreement with China based media and branding company Acorn International.

Under terms of the agreement, Acorn and MetLife will together endorse and market short-term accident insurance and health insurance to Acorn’s customers within selected provinces in China.

Acorn CEO Don Yang said that the collaboration between these two companies will provide reliable insurance products designed to meet the growing needs of the Chinese insurance marketplace.

MetLife China CEO Bob Pei said, "With MetLife’s expertise and profound experience in product design and customer-focused solutions, the collaboration will certainly benefit both MetLife and Acorn."

Through career agency, bank partners, direct marketing and group insurance channels, MetLife offers life and accidental insurance and savings products in over 20 cities in the country.

MetLife trades in the US, Japan, Latin America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East through its subsidiaries and affiliates and serves 90 million customers with insurance, annuities and employee benefit programs.

Focusing on the investment in the financial services and high-tech industries, SAIL is a state-owned investment company affiliated to Shanghai National Capital Bureau.
